The bar associations in Meerut and Moradabad went on strike Friday after the Allahabad High Court referred Meerut cases to Moradabad courts for the disposal.
The struggle committee of the agitating lawyers in Meerut has given a call for strike Saturday to all the bar associations of the 22 districts of western Uttar Pradesh.
"The struggle committee has given call for the total strike after the chief justice of Allahabad High Court refused to give consent to the union law minister's letter in absence of state government letter," said Anil Pandit, president of the Ghaziabad bar association.
"Till now the union government has been given the impression that things were moving in the right direction for the establishment of a high court bench in western Uttar Pradesh. But the lawyers of western UP feel cheated by false promises. Tomorrow the struggle committee might relaunch the agitation on an aggressive note which was suspended earlier," he added
The western UP lawyers agitating for a high court bench in west Uttar Pradesh have called an emergency meeting at Meerut Saturday.
