A first-half strike from Paraguay international midfielder Marcos Melgarejo gave Club Nacional a 1-0 victory over Zamora in their Copa Libertadores Group 4 match.
The 27-year-old netted in the 10th minute of the match Thursday as the hosts dominated early at the Arsenio Erico stadium. They withstood a spirited second-half display from the Venezuelan outfit to secure their first win of the competition, reported Xinhua.
Nacional coach Gustavo Morinigo lamented his team's inability to capitalize on their dominance of possession.
"We wanted to hold onto the ball and close out the match but we were unable," Morinigo said.
The Paraguayan side's next match is against Ronaldinho's Atletico Mineiro at home on March 12.
