Mexico City, Sep 12 (IANS/EFE) "Cantinflas", directed by Sebastian del Amo, will represent Mexico in the competition for the Oscar for best foreign language film, the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences (AMACC) has announced.

Luis Estrada's "La dictadura perfecta" has been selected as Mexico's entry in the category of Ibero-American film in Spain's Goya Awards, the AMACC said Thursday.

Selecting the films was the task of a committee of 128 representatives of Mexico's film community.

Starring Damian Alcazar, Alfonso Herrera, Joaquin Cosio, Osvaldo Benavides and Silvia Navarro, "La dictadura perfecta" is a direct critique of a hypothetical Mexican government headed by a president who makes mistakes and a television corporation that has to help its ally get out of the problem before it becomes another serious crisis for his image and popularity.

"Cantinflas", starring Spaniard Oscar Jaenada, tells the story of the great Mexican comedian Mario Moreno from his beginnings in local tent shows up through the development of the character he played in "Around the World in 80 Days", for which he won the Golden Globe.
