Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju Monday reviewed the progress made by the Bezbaruah Committee formed to look into the concerns of people from the northeastern states living in other parts of the country.
A statement from the ministry said the committee under the chairmanship of North Eastern Council member M.P. Bezbaruah called on Rijiju Monday.
The committee was formed Feb 6 to look into the concerns, especially those related to security, of people from the northeast living in other parts of the country, especially in the metros.
The committee will examine the causes behind incidents of violence and discrimination against people from the northeast and suggest legal remedies and other measures to address those concerns.
The committee met Monday and will interact till June 14 with students, professionals and various people from the northeastern states living in Delhi and seek their suggestions.
