Prime Minister Narendra Modi had his first meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang here Thursday. Li and Modi held formal delegation-level talks and later shook hands.
Modi has met President Xi Jinping earlier, including during the latter's bilateral visit to India in September.
But the two prime ministers have not met before.
Modi and Li discussed issues of bilateral interest, and also discussed Xi's visit.
Modi told Li that the visit of the Chinese president "will be remembered as a memorable visit", the Prime Minister's Office tweeted.
Li concurred, saying Xi's visit was "a high success".
