Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday invited Indians abroad to join the "Make in India" initiative, saying the country aimed to show its strength by exploiting technology to the maximum extent.
Addressing a huge crowd of cheering Indian-Americans at the Madison Square Garden reception, he said: "If you want human resources and low-cost production, then India is your destination. I invite you to join the Make in India initiative."
Amid cheers from the crowd, Modi said he had made arrangements for Indians abroad to interact with him directly.
"I have a website MyGov. I request you all to look at MyGov. Please visit the website and see how you can get involved.
"We aim to show our strength by exploiting technology to the maximum extent," he said.
He also promised to cut bureaucratic red tape. "The earlier government spoke only of what laws they have made," he said.
