Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday praised Bollywood superstar Salman Khan for joining the "Swachh Bharat" campaign and hoped it will be an inspiration for others.
"The effort by Salman Khan is a significant, one that will inspire several people to join Swachh Bharat Mission," Modi tweeted.
Salman Khan contributed to the nationwide campaign by cleaning a part of Karjat in Mumbai Tuesday. He even shared pictures of himself with his team which also comprised of actor Neil Nitin Mukesh wielding the broom and sweeping the area.
He first nominated his Facebook fans and Twitter followers, saying "each one of us can make a difference".
He further nominated eight people and tweeted: "I nominate Aamir Khan, Azim Premji, Chanda Kochhar, Omar Abdullah, Pradeep Dhoot, Rajat Sharma, Rajinikanth and Vineet Jain."
Modi launched the campaign to make a clean place Oct 2, Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.
