BJP's prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi has replied to an Election Commission notice over his "Khooni Panja" remark allegedly aimed at the Congress, official sources said Tuesday.
"The commission has received Modi's reply and it is under process," Election Commission sources told IANS.
The Commission had granted Modi time up to 11.30 a.m. on Nov 20 to file his reply.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had earlier sought a week's time to submit the reply to the Election Commission's notice of Nov 13, saying Modi could not be consulted over the issue as he was busy campaigning for the party in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
The Election Commission had asked Modi to explain by 5 p.m. of Nov 16 why action should not be initiated against him for violation of the model code.
Modi had made the alleged remark during a speech Nov 7 in Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh.
On Nov 10, the Congress had approached the Election Commission, demanding stern action against Modi.
