Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother, who was admitted briefly to the Civil Hospital in Gandhinagar on Wednesday, is now fine and has returned home, family sources said.
According to family members, Hiraba was admitted for a routine health check up and then sent home.
Hiraba, who lives near here with her son Pankaj Modi, an officer in the Gujarat information department, was taken to the hospital in an ambulance around 4 p.m. and was admitted to the intensive care unit.
Paresh Vora of the hospital said she had age related illness. Her ECG, blood pressure measurement and X-ray tests were conducted.
"She was fine and sent home," he said. Sources in the hospital said she had cough and breathing problems.
Pankaj Modi termed it a routine check-up and said "she is fine".
