Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogendra Yadav on Saturday described Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech as "disappointing".
"The prime minister gifted a new sign board for the agriculture ministry but little else to farmers," Yadav told IANS. "There was no mention of farmers' suicides."
"The prime minister also didn't utter a single word on land acquisition," he added.
Yadav's Jai Kisan Andolan had demanded that the prime minister must, in his Independence Day address, acknowledge the plight of farmers which has led to mass suicides.
"The PM's speech is disappointing... This is the perception of the farmers gathered in Dhulena village in Gurgaon district," he said.
