Modi suggests virtual reality shows, more surveillance at Somnath

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that Somnath can be developed as an ancient heritage pilgrimage and a tourist destination as he attended a meeting of the Board of Trustees of Somnath Trust at his residence here.

Modi also suggested excavations of areas to establish various missing historic links, and that high-tech marine attractions and virtual reality shows should be covered in the future plan.

He also suggested to bring maximum areas under CCTV surveillance network.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to develop Somnath as an ancient heritage pilgrimage as well as a tourist destination.

The Trust reviewed the progress of various projects of Somnath and stressed the need for an all-round development of the site as number of visitors was growing.

The Somnath Trust has also decided to deposit about six kilograms of gold under Gold Monetisation Scheme.
