Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a two-day state visit to Bangladesh from June 6, it was officially announced.
The visit, Modi's first to Bangladesh after coming to power last year, is at the invitation of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The visit "reflects the importance attached by India to the bilateral relationship", said a ministry of external affairs statement.
"The visit is expected to further expand the cordial and cooperative relationship between the two countries and strengthen the ties of friendship and trust between India and Bangladesh," it added.
During the visit, Modi will hold discussions with Hasina. His programme will also include a call on President Mohammed Abdul Hamid, the statement said.
