Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday visited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to enquire about his health.
Vajpayee, 93, was admitted to AIIMS on June 11 with urinary tract infection, chest congestion and low urine output.
"The Prime Minister spent about 10 minutes with Vajpayee. His condition is stable and his health is improving day by day," said an AIIMS official.
Modi had earlier also paid visit to his ailing predecessor following his admission at the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Vajpayee was Prime Minister briefly in 1996 and then from 1998 to 2004 but had retreated from active politics over the last decade due to failing health.
At AIIMS, Modi also laid the foundation stone for the National Centre for Ageing and inaugurated a super speciality and an emergency block at Safdarjung Hospital, besides inaugurating a one-km long tunnel between AIIMS main building and its trauma facility.
