Three months after the defection of a coalition partner -- Istiqlal party -- Morocco's King Mohammed VI appointed a new Islamist-led government Thursday.

Most of the Justice and Development Party ministers from the first coalition government, which was formed after the 2011 elections, kept their portfolios with the exception of the former minister of foreign affairs Saad Eddine Outmani, who left the government, Xinhua reported.

The 39 ministers of the new government will include six women and two technocrat ministers for education and interior.
