Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday said his country hopes to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with South Korea.
"We appreciate the cooperation between our countries, and South Korea is one of our priorities in the Asia-Pacific region," Xinhua news agency quoted Putin as saying during a meeting with President Park Geun-hye on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
He said that the two countries' economic relations were "very versatile" in such fields as energy, electronics, mechanical engineering and chemistry.
"We support your initiative for the Year of Korean Culture in Russia," Putin told Park.
For her part, Park said it was necessary to strengthen the relationship of trust between the two countries for cooperation development.
The Eastern Economic Forum can create a "solid foundation for our cooperation development of the Russian Far East", she said.

The second Eastern Economic Forum opened on Friday in the Russian Far Eastern city of Vladivostok, with 2,500 guests and investors from 28 countries attending.
