A motorcylist was killed and his pillion passenger injured when a car hit the two-wheeler early on Saturday, police said. The car driver had been arrested.
The accident took place in south Kolkata's Charu market area.
"At around 3 a.m., Josh Chowdhury's car hit a bike with two riders in front of Bhabani Cinema Hall near Charu market. The biker Sajal Kairi, 25, a resident of Behala in south Kolkata, died in this accident while the other rider was severely injured," police said.
This is the second such reckless driving incident in the city within a week.
Earlier, a luxury car hit Abhijit Pandey, 22, who was riding a scooter, leading to his death.
Chowdhury was nabbed from his residence on Saturday on the charges of rash driving and causing death by negligence.
