MP clerk owns 3 houses, plot, 1 kg gold and much more

Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta Police on Friday raided the house of an office assistant (Grade II) of the Indore Development Corporation here and uncovered movable and immovable property worth crores of rupees in his name.

According to Lokayukta Police DSP Brajraj Singh Parihar, acting on a complaint about Rajendra Birthare amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income, they raided the Santnagar-located house of the accused on Friday morning.

Parihar told IANS: "The documents seized in the raid show that Birthare owns three houses and a plot in Indore.

"We also recovered one kilogram gold and three-and-half kilogram silver ornaments from the clerk's house. Besides, he owns 32 acres of agricultural land."

If the salary of his entire service period is calculated, it works out to Rs 25 lakh only, the DSP said. He is going to retire next month.

"In addition, Birthare's family members also maintain 37 accounts in 12 banks. Documents of 18 policies have also been seized. He owns nine vehicles, out of which four are four-wheelers and five two-wheelers," he said.

Apart from all this, documents relating to various types of investments have also been found. An investigation has been initiated in the matter, DSP Parihar said.
