The Madhya Pradesh government has transferred a district officer who allegedly slapped an executive engineer during an argument over putting up barricades near a temple during the Navratra festival.

Prakash Chandra Jangde was among eight Indian Administrative Service officials transferred by the state government on Saturday night.

The slapping of executive engineer K.K. Singaur, of the public works department, had prompted engineers of various government departments to observe a day-long strike last month seeking Jangde's transfer.
