The national capital Thursday experienced a muggy day with the maximum temperature at 40.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average, and the humidity as high as 88 percent. The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy Friday with light rain in some areas.
"The sky is likely to turn partly cloudy in the afternoon and some parts of the city will receive light rain," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The maximum and the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 40 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The minimum temperature Thursday settled down at 25.1 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average, while the humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 78 percent.
Wednesday's maximum temperature was recorded at 34.1 degrees Celsius, average for the season, while the minimum settled a notch above the season's average at 28.2 degrees Celsius.
