Riding high on Jio wave, Reliance Industries Limited's (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani has entered the Light Reading's 'Hall of Fame 2017'.
Ray Le Maistre, International Group Editor, 'Light Reading', announced Mukesh Ambani entering the 'Hall of Fame 2017' that recognises individuals for their contribution to the global communications industry.
"What makes Mukesh Ambani an entrant into the 'Hall of Fame' is not that he is the richest Indian and indeed one of the wealthiest people in the world," says Light Reading, "Why he has been given the honour is for shaking up one of the world's largest communications market."
"Light Reading" is a global telecommunications industry information company based in New York. Its activities include publishing, data analysis, market research and events management.
Light Reading said: "Mukesh Ambani has been the driving force behind India's new 4G entrant Reliance Jio, which was launched in September 2016, following years of planning and billions of dollars of investment."
Apart from Ambani, others who have entered "Hall of Fame" this year are Reed Hastings, founder and CEO of Netflix; Tony Werner, President of Technology, Comcast Cable, and networking innovator Nick Mc Keown.
