Mukherjee greets Spain, Equatorial Guinea on National Day

President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday greeted people of Spain and Equatorial Guinea on their National Days.

"Warm greetings and felicitations to Your Majesty and to the people of Spain on the occasion of your National Day," Mukherjee said in a message to Spanish King Felipe VI.

He said next year would mark 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and Spain, offering opportunity to both the countries to realize fully the true potential of the partnership.

Spain celebrates its National Day on October 12 to commemorate the day when Christopher Columbus first set foot in the Americas in 1492.

In an another message to his Equatorial Guinean counterpart President Brig. Gen. Teodoro Obiang Nguema M'basogo, Mukherjee extended greetings to the government and the people on the western African nation.

Stating that both the countries enjoyed warm and friendly relations, Mukherjee exuded confidence that bilateral relations would be further strengthened in future.

Equatorial Guinea celebrate its National Day on October 12 to mark its independence from Spain in 1968.
