President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday greeted Uzbekistan on its Independence Day on Tuesday.
Mukherjee said in a message to his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov: "Under your able and visionary leadership, Uzbekistan has achieved remarkable economic growth and development since its independence. Uzbekistan has been playing a significant role in promoting regional security and stability."
The president said the India-Uzbekistan strategic partnership continued to grow based on the mutually beneficial and multifaceted relations between the two countries.
Mukherjee said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Uzbekistan on July 6-7 had given new impetus to the strategic partnership as well as trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Uzbekistan declared its independence on September 1, 1991 from the then Soviet Union.
