A Mumbai police team here Thursday served summons on Gurunath Meiyappan, chief executive of Chennai Super Kings team of the IPL who is son-in-law of Indian cricket board president N. Srinivasan, in connection with the spot fixing controversy.

Meiyappan was asked to appear before investigators in Mumbai for questioning.

The police team reached Meiyappan's residence Wednesday evening and waited outside for around 10 minutes before going in.

The notice was received by the staff at Meiyappan's residence as his whereabouts were not known.

The Mumbai police action stems from the statement given by arrested Bollywood actor Vindu Dara Singh, a suspect in the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot fixing scandal, that he was in touch with Meiyappan.

Board of Control for Cricket in India president Srinivasan, who is based in Chennai, was not available for comments.
