The University of Mumbai on Thursday launched two industry-oriented post-graduate courses in "Emotional Intelligence" from the current academic year.
The two-year courses are called "Emotional Intelligence and Human Relations" and "Emotional Intelligence and Life Coaching", said Vice Chancellor Sanjay Deshmukh.
The first of its kind in the country, the courses are being introduced in collaboration with MasterMyLife EQ Education, he said. MasterMyLife EQ Education is a firm that provides coaching and educational courses.
The courses will be conducted at the Kalina campus, he added.
Deshmukh said the courses would offer practical training in industries and aim to specifically build a competency level in students to enable them to take up any challenge in their corporate career or entrepreneurship ventures.
Anil Karnik, Director of Mumbai University's Garware Institute, said the objective behind introducing these courses was "to keep Indian education aligned with global trends where these streams are popular".
