Myanmar-China bilateral trade hits over $9 billion

Bilateral trade between Myanmar and China hit over $9.4 billion in the first ten months (April-January) of 2015-16 fiscal year, sources with the Ministry of Commerce said on Monday.

Myanmar mainly exports oil and gas and agricultural products to China, Xinhua reported.

The imports from China include industrial products and commodities.

According to the official statistics, bilateral trade between Myanmar and China amounted to over $10 billion in 2014-15 fiscal year.

Of the total, Myanmar's exports to China hit $4.6 billion and its imports from China reached $5.6 billion.

Meanwhile, according to Myanmar official statistics, China's investment in the country amounted to $15.418 billion in 115 projects, accounting for 26.07 percent of the total as of December 2015 since Myanmar opened to such investment in late 1988, standing first in foreign investment line-up.
