Sixty-nine prisoners of conscience were released Friday from prisons across Myanmar under a fresh amnesty order of President U Thein Sein, his office said.
The move came as the government promised to release all political prisoners by the end of the year, reported Xinhua.
Myanmar had freed 56 political prisoners on Oct 8, taking to 29,820 the prisoners pardoned since the new civilian government took office March 30, 2011.
