Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on Wednesday demanded action against those responsible for the massive fire in a hospital here that killed 19 people.
"An inquiry is going on. Prima facie I find some safety issues which need to be addressed," Nadda said after visiting the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospitals.
Describing the incident as "very shocking, painful and worrisome", he sought punishment for those responsible for the tragedy. "The state government must take necessary action so that people's faith is reposed."
Nineteen people were killed in the fire in the ICU of the Dialysis Ward of the SUM Hospital on Monday. Another 106 were injured.
