Nagpur records highest temperature with 46.1 degrees Celsius

Nagpur recorded the highest temperature this summer with the mercury soaring to 46.1 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, and several other parts of Marathwada, north Maharashtra and Vidarbha recording temperatures between 42 and 46 degrees.

The Weather bureau has forecast a dry heatwave in the region till Saturday and a further rise in the temperature.

Nanded and Amravati recorded around 42 degrees Celsius. Mahabaleshwar, the hill-station of Maharashtra, notched 35 degrees Celsius while Matheran in coastal Raigad experienced 33 degrees Celsius.

The country's financial capital Mumbai sweltered around 35 degrees Celsius and Pune at 37 degrees Celsius. Other major cities in the hinterland also recorded high temperatures with people confining themselves indoors especially from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to avoid the scorching heat.
