Top scientist B.H.V.S. Narayana Murthy has been appointed Director, Research Centre Imarat (RCI) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) here.
RCI is a premier DRDO laboratory of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex spearheading the design, development and delivery of state-of-the-art avionics systems for the entire Indian missile development programme.
Over the last three decades, Murthy made significant contributions to the design, development and delivery of onboard computers, missile launch processors, real-time mission softwares with novel fault tolerant schemes and system on chip for various tactical and strategic missile programmes, said a statement from RCI.
An alumni of Regional Engineering College (REC), Warangal, he was bestowed with many awards and recognitions including Astronautical Society of India Rocket and Related Technologies Award, AGNI Award for Excellence in Self Reliance as a team Leader, DRDO Scientist of the Year Award and Path Breaking Research/Outstanding Technology Development Award.
"We have to gear up for the next level of futuristic research and bring in the much needed technological self-reliance in the country," said Murthy on assuming charge.
RCI was established in 1988 under the leadership of Abdul Kalam who envisioned building a world class research centre at Hyderabad and led the laboratory as its founding director.
