Vice Admiral G.S. Pabby on Monday took over as the Indian Navy's new Chief of Materiel, who is responsible for selection, induction and maintenance of all types of equipment and weapon systems for ships and submarines, an official release said.
A graduate in Mechanical Engineering and MTech in Systems and Controls from IIT Mumbai, Pabby succeeds Vice Admiral A.V. Subhedar who has retired after four decades of service.
Before becoming the Navy's senior-most technical officer, Pabby was Controller, Warship Production and Acquisition, where he worked closely with defence public sector undertakings and industry. He has also served as the Director General Naval Projects at Mumbai and Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at the Western Naval Command at Mumbai.
Pabby will be responsible for creation of major marine and technical infrastructure and all logistics management functions of Indian Navy.
