Indian Navy chief Admiral R.K. Dhowan on Thursday said a report on an alleged rape case against a navy officer in Mumbai was being awaited and necessary action will be taken after it is received.
"We are waiting for a report. We will take necessary action," Dhowan said in response to a question about the incident. The navy chief was talking to journalists after the conclusion of the Naval Commander's conference here.
A woman has reportedly registered a rape complaint against a navy officer with the Mumbai police and the western naval command.
Navy officials in Mumbai as well as the police refused comment on the issue.
