Coal India subsidiary Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) on Wednesday said it has achieved the assigned target of 100 million tonnes (MT) of coal production for the current fiscal and is about to meet its annual dispatch target.
"We achieved our assigned target of 100 MT of coal production on Tuesday, five days ahead of fiscal completion. This happens to be a record production, highest ever since the inception of the company," said a company official.
Its dispatch target also exceeded the 100 MT mark for FY19 (2018-19).
"Till Tuesday, the company had despatched 100.14 MT of coal, which is very close to the target of 100.50 MT. It is expected to meet the dispatch target too, before the end of the financial year," he said.
Most of the company's coal projects have either achieved their annual target or have produced more coal than the assigned target, the official said.
Coal India Chairman and Managing Director A.K. Jha is on a two-day visit to NCL.
