Union minister Smriti Irani on Saturday said the Narendra Modi government is people-oriented with all its departments working in coordination with each other while its predecessor UPA regime was just the opposite.
Participating in an interactive programme - Talkathon, telecast on Doordarshan - the minister for human resource development (HRD) said various departments of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government did not know what the other one was doing.
"The kind of coordination we have among all our government departments, it was not there during the UPA regime," Irani said.
Explaining how the Modi government's approach was totally different from that of the UPA government, she said the UPA government celebrated its one year in office by organising a dinner for its ministers and leaders, whereas "we are having interactive session like these to talk to people, to ask for their suggestions".
