With Hollywood and Bollywood attracting more and more investment and spending a fortune on customised marketing, business management courses needs to expand to cover the music and films industry, says a US-based academician.
"We need to define business in a much broader sensea. Business education needs to get into entertainment," said Tridib Mazumdar, professor of marketing in US' Whitman school of management.
According to Mazumdar, the multi million dollar Hollywood and Bollywood industries are dominated not so much by hit films, as there are only a very few blockbusters in a year.
With much of a film's fate depending on its marketing and distribution, there is a need for business management courses to get into film specialisation as well.
Feeling there is a need for marketeers to explore the entertainment industry because of the immense scope and potential, Mazumdar said if anybody is able to predict the right ingredients to make a movie a success, the person can be a billionaire.
