The pristine beaches of Goa, snowy mountains of Himachal Pradesh and glitz and glamour of Mumbai were all trumped by the national capital to top the list of most favourite destinations in India, according to a survey.
Conducted by by Wego, a travel search site, the survey has declared New Delhi as the most sought destination within the country. Most of the users of the portal are business travellers.
Mumbai is not far behind at second on the list, while Goa, the destination for all the party hoppers, got the third spot, followed by Bangalore and Chennai respectively.
Among international destinations, Singapore has topped the list, while Dubai is on the second spot.
Jackson Fernandez, managing director of the portal, feels that the airline flash sales and expansion of routes will dominate 2015.
He also feels that the new domestic airlines and attractive discounts will continue to add a zing to the aviation sector, while improvements in infrastructure will also help the domestic travel market grow.
The arrival of electronic visa (e-visa) facility for tourists from 43 countries, including US, Israel, Palestine and Japan is also expected to boost tourism sector next year.
