A new programme which aims to reduce malnutrition among women and children has been launched in 200 high-risk districts of the country, parliament was told Friday.
The government has taken new measures to reduce malnutrition among children and women, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi told the Lok Sabha in response to a question.
"A multi-sectoral nutrition programme which aims at prevention and reduction in child under-nutrition and reduction in levels of anaemia among young children, adolescent girls and women has been launched in 200 high-burden districts," she said.
The minister said that the concerned states have been advised to set up state nutrition council, district nutrition cells and prepare nutrition action plans for approval of the government.
