The newly elected Ukrainian parliament will meet for the first time next week, Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman announced here Wednesday.

"The first meeting of the Ukrainian Parliament will be held Nov 27," Groysman said after the gathering of the preparatory parliamentary group.

During the first plenary meeting of the assembly, the lawmakers will swear allegiance to the nation, establish parliamentary committees and start formal coalition talks, Xinhua cited him as saying.

The coalition is expected to be officially formed within one week after the first parliamentary meeting.

The eighth Ukrainian parliamentary elections were held Oct 26 under a mixed system, with 225 members of parliament elected on party lists and the remaining 225 in single-seat constituencies.

As the elections were not held in 27 constituencies, including 12 in Crimea, only 198 lawmakers were elected in the single-seat constituencies.

The People's Front Party, led by Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk, won the elections on the party lists, while the political bloc that supports Ukrainian President Petro came second.
