The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Tuesday sought reports from Uttarakhand and the central government over the measures being taken for the evacuation and rehabilitation of flood-affected victims in the hill state.
"We have asked Uttarakhand's chief secretary to submit a report on the progress of steps taken by the state to provide relief to people who are stranded in Uttarakhand floods," said an NHRC official.
The cabinet secretary of the central government has also been asked to submit a report on the measures taken and proposed to help the state government in its efforts, added the official.
The commission also announced that its secretary general would set up a team which will go to the worst-affected areas to assess the situation.
