Nine people were Friday arrested following clashes between two groups of people in Balasore, Odisha over the distribution of blankets donated by a politician, police said.
The clashes erupted in Balasore, 214 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar, after some villagers complained that the blankets did not reach them.
Accusing each other, the villagers clashed. However, no one was seriously injured, inspector in-charge of the local police station Manas Kumar Deo told IANS.
The residents pelted stones when police went to the area to restore peace. Deo said a police van was damaged and nine people from both the groups arrested.
