Mexico City, June 6 (IANS/EFE) Japanese automaker Nissan said it would begin selling its Note model, which is being made in Mexico, in the middle of this month, targeting the US and Canadian markets.

The Note, a mini MPV launched in 2004, was being made at the plants in Kyushu, Japan, and Sunderland, England.

The automaker began manufacturing the model last month at its plant in Aguascalientes, a state in central Mexico.

"The Note completes an investment of $1.05 billion for the development of compact vehicles that started with the Nissan March and the Versa," Nissan Mexicana vice president of manufacturing Armando Avila said in a statement.

The 2014 hatchback model offers better technology, including Bluetooth, a camera in the rear, a colour screen for the audio system and a starter button, among other features.

The vehicle, which has a 1.6-litre fuel-injected four cylinder engine, is being built in four versions in Mexico, with both manual and automatic transmissions available.
