Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday claimed that the victory of the BJP in the assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh will have no impact in the state.

"I see no impact in Odisha of all these... I don't feel the Biju Janata Dal will face anti-incumbency because of our development programmes and welfare schemes which are doing well in our state," Patnaik told the media.

The Chief Minister also ruled out any possible impact on the imminent by-election for the Bijepur assembly constituency in Bargarh district.

As there is talk of early elections, the BJD President said his party is always ready to face polls.

"I can again say that we are ready for polls anytime," said the Chief Minister.

Patnaik on Monday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on the poll victory in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.
