There was no Indian casualty in a hospital fire in Saudi Arabia that killed 25 people and injured 107 others, the external affairs ministry has said.
"Update on Fire in Jizan Central Hospital, Saudi Arabia where 30 Indian nurses were on duty. Consulate confirms no Indian casualties," ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup tweeted.
The Saudi civil defence directorate said the blaze broke out at the Jizan General Hospital around 2.30 a.m., Al Jazeera reported.
The disaster occurred in the intensive care unit and the maternity ward on the first floor of the hospital, Xinhua news agency added.
At least 20 fire engines battled the blaze. Other patients were rushed to a number of nearby public and private hospitals.
The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained.
