Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi Tuesday assured that there was no place in the capital where a woman can feel unsafe as his officials are continuously making efforts to ensure their security.

"I would like to assure you that it has always been a continuous effort by us to ensure that there is no place in Delhi where a woman feels unsafe. And for that, we do all that we need to," Bassi told the media after meeting Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Bassi met the minister four days after a 25-year-old business analyst was raped in a taxi by its driver while she was on her way home.

"There are certain areas which we have identified, which are vulnerable from the perspective of crimes against women, like slums and areas lacking civic amenities. There we have stationed women officials as beat constables so that they can be easily approached," he said.

Bassi said that in the last two years, due to steps taken by Delhi Police, women now feel empowered to at least come and file a police complaint, and police also ensure that action is taken.
