As the Madras High Court on Thursday cast doubts on the cause behind sudden death of the then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said there was no reason to disbelieve doctor on the matter.
"The matter is sub judice and (I) should not make a comment on that. But I don't have reasons to disbelieve the cause (of death) given by the doctor," Naidu told the media here.
The Madras High Court cast doubts on the reason behind the sudden death of Jayalalithaa, and asked why the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's body could not be exhumed.
The court referred to media reports about the secrecy surrounding the state of her health while she was in Apollo Hospitals here, and said it too has doubts.
Filed by AIADMK member P.A. Joseph, the petition raises questions on secrecy surrounding Jayalalithaa's stay at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, where she was admitted on September 22. She passed away on December 5.
