Indian Super League (ISL) franchisee NorthEast United FC arrived in Goa Tuesday for a pre-season training tour which includes three friendlies before the beginning of the inaugural ISL Oct 12.
The squad has former Spanish international Joan Capdevila in its ranks as the marquee player.
"The Goa tour will bring the new team together. They will have time to know each other on-and-off the field which is imperative for the overall development of the team. I wish the team luck and am sure under the guidance of manager Ricki Herbert they will do well," actor and co-owner of the club John Abraham said.
Herbert also pronounced his enthusiasm to get a squad, that he envisioned for, at his disposal.
"After training over the last four weeks in Shillong, we now head to Goa for the next phase. The Goa tour will provide all players opportunity to get match-time. It will give me a chance to look at the quality of players," he said.
