Norway's football team chief coach Per-Mathias Hogmo announced his resignation on Wednesday after three years in charge amid disappointing results of the side, which holds the penultimate position in Group C of the UEFA qualifications for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Hogmo took the decision in agreement with the Football Association of Norway, according to a statement by the latter, explaining that he resigned to alleviate the pressure on the team following the recent disappointing results, reports Efe.

Norway only managed to defeat San Marino and was defeated by Germany, Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic.

In 35 games under Hogmo, Norway won 10 matches, lost seven and was defeated in 18.

Norwegian media reported possible replacements of Hogmo, including his compatriot Stale Solbakken, current coach of Copenhagen FC, and the Swede Erik Hamren who has experience in the Norwegian league.
