English football club Norwich City has announced the signing of Switzerland defender Timm Klose from VfL Wolfsburg subject to governing body approval.

Klose, who played an important role for Wolfsburg last season as they finished second behind Bayern Munich in Germany's Bundesliga to qualify for the Champions League, joins the Canaries on a three-and-a-half year contract for an undisclosed fee, according to Norwich website on Monday.

Klose is the fourth signing of the month for Norwich, after Matt Jarvis, Ivo Pinto and Ben Godfrey as head coach Alex Neil continues to bolster his ranks for the second half of the Premier League campaign.

"Timm has got plenty of experience having played in the Bundesliga, in the Champions League and for his country, which will be an asset to us," Neil said in a statement.

"As a player, he's got good technical ability and he's solid in the air. He can also play at either right centre-back or left centre-back."

Klose, 27, featured against England in Switzerland's recent Euro 2016 qualifying campaign as they finished runners-up to Roy Hodgson's men, securing a spot at this summer's tournament.

He has also enjoyed Champions League football this season, playing a part in Wolfsburg's 3-2 victory over Manchester United only last month -- a result that eliminated Louis van Gaal's side from the competition.

Frankfurt-born Klose, who qualifies for Switzerland through his mother's side, started his career at FC Basel and FC Thun before moving back to Germany in 2011 with Nurnberg.

His form earned him a transfer to Wolfsburg in 2013, and he has gone on to make 39 appearances in all competitions for The Wolves.
