Not interested in Barcelona coach job, says Wenger

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger on Thursday said he is not looking to be head coach of FC Barcelona after, when Luis Enrique leaves the Catalan side's bench at the end of the football season.

Wenger's name is on the list of possible coaches for Barcelona's coach, but he has always reiterated that his preference would be to stay at Arsenal, reports Efe.

Ernesto Valverde, Jorge Sampaoli, Eusebio Sacristan, Laurent Blanc and Ronald Koeman are being named in the media as potential replacements at the club.

"My preference has always been the same and will remain the same. I am not looking for jobs in other clubs or jobs for other people. I am just focused on me getting to the next level and trying to improve," Arsenal's French manager said during a press conference here.

"I think (to be a) competent manager is to always try to improve and to see what you can do better. To reinvent yourself. That's what I always try to do. That's it, basically," he added, according to the club's official website.

The veteran Frenchman, who has been with the Gunners for 20 years, has the offer of a new two-year deal when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Enrique announced at a press conference on Wednesday, after Barcelona defeated Sporting Gijon 6-1, that he intends to leave his post at Camp Nou at the end of the season.
