Stockholm-based call utility services Truecaller on Thursday said it had launched a new caller availability feature in its Truedialer app.

The new feature in the dialer app will now allow users to check the availability of someone he or she intends to call before dialing.

"Truedialer automatically syncs to your diary and works reactively to your schedule, blocking out time as, and when, meetings and appointments come in, showing contacts when you're free (with the status highlighted in green) or if you're busy (status highlighted in red)," the company said in a release.

According to the company, callers can choose to send an SMS or select to be automatically notified when the person they were trying to call is free again.

"It seems unusual that in a world where we can talk to each other over our phones, map our locations wherever we are with pinpoint accuracy and stream our current activity, that we still haven't figured out when to let people know when we're free to talk in real time. This is where Truedialer changes things," said Truecaller co-founder Alan Mamedi.

"Technology is designed to adapt to our modern working styles and make our lives easier and Truedialer exemplifies this - its ability to let you know when the best time to call a contact, is an invaluable function. We're turning the phone app into every user's 'go-to app' because we want to put phone users back in control of communication," he added.

Currently, the Truedialer app can identify over 2 billion numbers.
