Concerns over the health of US President Barack Obama were allayed following diagnostic tests for a sore throat at a hospital Saturday, media reported.

The presidential physician, Ronny Jackson said that the US president had been showing symptoms of sore throat over the past couple weeks, according to a Xinhua report.

A White House report said that Obama was brought to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, located in Bethesda in the state of Maryland, to take some diagnostic tests, as recommended by Jackson.

Jackson said in a statement that a CT scan was conducted "purely as a matter of convenience" for the president, adding "The CT scan was normal. The president's symptoms were consistent with soft tissue inflammation related to acid reflux and would be treated accordingly."
